Tham,

It was a great experience. Very well led by you and your team of village lads.

Having Lynnette Silver with us was fantastic. To share her vast reservoir of knowledge. And her husband Neil too.

Being able to have a shower at the end of each day. Terrific food. And sheets to sleep on – in a bed.

To appreciate half a dozen leeches crawling across the socks and in the boots is a very small sacrifice to experience a small part of what the heroic prisoners of war had to endure 70 years ago. It is a privilege to bring home a spirit of a prisoner. To reconnect with Australian soil.

Thank you so much for the time and effort you have putt not recreating, documenting and preserving the memory of the deeds of the soldiers. It has been a pleasure to learn from you.

I came here to learn, experience and respect what our Aussie Diggers endured and I will be leaving with a much greater appreciation after what I’ve done, seen and heard. The passion and deep knowledge Lynette shared with the group was more than I could have hoped for. The entire TYK team certainly delivered a trip, the memories of which will last a lifetime.

I went in search of a soldier who died at Sandakan, he has an unknown grave at Labuan…I came away after 7 days of trekking thinking what a hell those soldiers went through. Lynette and Tham conducted a great tour. Lynette makes it as if you are almost there with them, her knowledge is fantastic. Tham has everything organised and it runs smoothly. The accomodation choices are more than adequate. The food great after a day of walking.

It was like walking in there footsteps, you leave with admiration and what could have been if only the intelligence was correct. I found the soldier’s name that I was looking for and like our soldiers almost 70 years ago I walked with a great group of fellow walkers. We all had a great experience and shall never forget the sacrifices and horrific experiences those POW’s went through. It’s an experience that can only touch your heart and burn deeply in your memory. Thanks to everybody that made the experience memorable.
